Blueberry Honey Compote

A lush blueberry cake sets the base for this blueberry boom! Homemade blueberry compote is heaped on honey drizzled whipped cream. You can also taste just a murmur of cinnamon stowing away in the compote. The inside of the cupcake is filled with thick, tangy sour cream cut with a hint of sugar, which meshes very well with the blueberry juices flowing inside! And just for kicks, the top is laid with two fragments of French vanilla rolled wafers.

New BlakeyCakes Update!

Top of the cupcake morning to you all! I have some new updates to show here on the blog. However, my BlakeyCakes fan page on Facebook is updated much more often. NEW ARRIVAL: White Chocolate Fudge Cherry BOMB!
Cake: Vanilla Chocolate-Chip.
Frosting: White Chocolate Fudge with natural bing cherry bits.


New Arrival: Orange Pistachio Zest!
Cake: Orange Maple
Frosting: Orange and Pistachio Italian Meringue Buttercream


Here we have a sort of tropical/earthy fusion of ingredients. The cake is a super moist burst of orange flavor made from fresh squeezed oranges and zest with a tinge of maple syrup added. Next, the cake is filled with a homemade blend of mega tangy lemon and lime curds. After that, I decided to make the frosting a swiss meringue buttercream that gives a less sugary and more airy, buttery taste. I blended bits of orange marmalade and crushed pistachios in the frosting, which adds a somewhat bittersweet and nutty experience. And finally, a glistening chunk of roasted apricot is planted at the very top! Bon app├ętit!

Orange Pistachio Zest cupcakes with my own mixed drink compliment! My passion for mixology and past bartending days made me too eager to mix up a tasty summer drink that marries well with the tastes of the cupcake.

A soft, moist marble cake with oozing chocolate swirling all over inside with a chocolate covered, gooey marshmallow swirl on top!! Some are smothered in walnuts, some in white candy drops, and some just plain and swirly;)
